HEADCOVERING: Prior to entering a Sikh Gurdwara (temple) everyone must cover their heads. Most women wearing a "chunni", a long scarf that is draped around their heads. Please bring a scarf with you. Most men will be wearing a "ramaal" a triangle shaped head covering tied like a bandana. These will be provided for you prior to entering the temple. SHOES: Shoes are not permitted inside the temple and are removed in the shoe room upon entering the temple. CLOTHING: In order to promote unity and equality, everyone who is able is required to sit together on the floor during prayers. Please consider this while choosing what to wear. When entering the prayer hall and during the ceremony, everyone must bow and touch their foreheads to the grounds and sit on the ground. Therefore, short skirts, shorts, plunging necklines are not appropriate. Please wear something comfortable you can sit cross-legged in. Ladies will be sitting on the left hand side and men will be on the right.
