Sooooo you're probably wondering the million dollar question...what's a girl like you doing in a place like this? Well take s seat, put the kettle on & I'll tell you. A girl like me (Laura) decided to go dancing with some friends one day and that's when she met a handsome guy from California(Enrique) who had recently moved into town. Of course he was just looking for new friends and events to check out around town sooooo...yeah you guest it, HE ASKED HER OUT? Nope. He asked her to dance and was a total gentleman. Then the girl went home & didn't talk to the handsome boy from California again. THAT'S IT?! Yep. JUST KIDDING. Fast forward to TWO months later. The girl decided to go to church one Sunday morning. When she walked in to find a seat, she noticed a handsome man in one of the back rows, she had never seen him at church before but she realized that THIS was the handsome boy from California she had met two month before. She could have kept walking, she could have pretended she didn't remember him but something gave her the courage to talk to him. All she could think to say was "HEYYY, Is this seat taken? remember me?". The handsome man smiled big, and said “I remember you, have a seat!”. The two became best friends and overtime realized that they were basically made for each other. And you probably guessed the rest because you clearly know about the wedding. BUT did you know about all of the YEARS & YEARS that the handsome boy & beautiful girl had been praying, dreaming, wishing, and hoping to meet each other one day. Our story is one that we cherish and give full credit to God for. He created each of us, He formed us into the people that we are today, and He picked the most perfect timing to bring us together. Our wedding day isn't just a day we declare of love & commitment to each other, but also a day where we celebrate LOVE, LIFE, & the Faithfulness of God. Jim & Sarann Parent, the grand parents of the bride, had a love story for the fairytale books. They met as children, fell in love, got married at sixteen years old and had FIVE children (Debbie is the second oldest & mother of the bride), 24 grand children, & 22 great grand children. Jim left high school to join the navy & took his family with him to the different places he was stationed. They taught their children the importance of family, faith, and the simple joys in life. Life wasn't always perfect but it was beautiful as Jim & Sarann loved each other deeply. Simply put, it was TRUE LOVE. They chose each other daily, they served each other, they cared for each other through sickness and in health. In 2012, Sarann was diagnosed with cancer, which she bravely & gracefully fought against. Regardless of how she felt or how challenging it became, she never let go of her hope and her joy in Jesus. The weaker she got, the more radiant she became. On November 3rd, 2020, her battle with cancer and pain ended & today she celebrates her victory with Jesus. Jim and Sarann's wedding anniversary is May 8th & this is the first year that Sarann is celebrating their anniversary apart from Jim. We believe that it's the perfect day to celebrate the beginning of our love story. Our desire is to honor them, their story, their faithfulness to each other & to God, their commitment, and their LOVE. We see today as a day where we choose to continue this legacy.
