HANNAH: We met through a mutual friend...who also happens to be my brother. They were college roommates. I will never forget the first time I saw his bright blue-green eyes & jet black hair. I was an awkward teenager who just got her braces off, so naturally I just gawked at him in silence. He was the cutest! That was 5 years ago. We only crossed paths a few times back then; though I did destroy him in Pokemon Stadium (the SandShrew game is the only one that counted). I gathered rather quickly that he was a kind & genuine person; & hilariously animated. Fast forward to February, 2016, & I decided I was going for this guy. I got his number, thanks to some help from my oh so wonderful Sister-in-Law...(& yes, Will knew about it too). We casually got to know each other, & about a month later, he made the 5.5 hour drive to take me out on a date. We officially became Hannah & Jake on March 25, 2016. All those times I talked about how cute he was & here I am marrying the guy! JAKE: Well, by "destroying me in Pokemon" she means she got lucky one time (ask her about the other 8 mini-games we played!) That victory dance for Hannah was only fun and games at the time, but that moment was my first real look at this wild-eyed girl, who arrived that day all shy and quiet in my living room (which yes, I happened to share with her brother). While I was happy to have met Hannah (& the rest of the wonderful Lowry family), I'm not so sure Will was as thrilled; as this started a long series of unreserved comments about the beauty of his little sister. A few years pass, & I am sitting at a bowling alley with my college buddy Will Lowry & his wife Ali; low & behold, I received a message that forever changed the course of my life.."Do I know you from somewhere?" There, forever ingrained in my memory, was the face of her, my brown-eyed girl (Sha la la la..♩♫) I'd like to say I swept her off her feet, but to be honest I was at a loss for words. Obviously I didn't mess it up too bad, though.
Jake drove down to Kentucky once again to take Hannah out on a date, as she was spending some of her summer at home. He put a summer spin on their very first date, and recreated it into a quiet and cozy picnic out by the riverfront in Henderson, KY. They ate pizza by candlelight, and he asked for her hand just as the sun began to set. It could not have been a more perfect day.
