we are getting married!

We discovered that we had a very similar upbringing on our first date in Boston. We learned that we both came to the US when we were 10. We both grew up in the same area in Beijing. We eventually traced back to the fact that we went to the same kindergarten at the same time! How is it possible that we meet again over two decades later on the other side of the world? Love truly works in mysterious ways.

I proposed to Rachel at the Above & Beyond concert at the Gorge Amphitheater outside of Seattle. We are both huge fans of electronic music and I thought this would be a beautiful way to propose to her. I was super nervous the whole weekend because I didn't want to ruin the surprise. Near sunset, I got our friends to distract her while I snuck up from behind and got down on one knee. The rest is history!
