The visibility for snorkeling (and diving) in Turks and Caicos is unbelievable! If you only do one thing while in Turks and Caicos (besides hanging out on the beach), you have to make sure to go snorkeling. Beach Snorkeling: On the western end of Grace Bay is Bight Reef (or Coral Gardens), a popular and accessible beach reef ideal for beach snorkeling where guests can approach a number of colorful reef fish, turtles, and lobsters. There’s also Smith’s Reef on Turtle Cove, Malcolm’s Road, and Northwest Point as notable spots to explore. Salt Cay also has incredible beach snorkeling on its northwest end. Snorkeling Excursions: Another option is to do a snorkeling excursion! There are many companies that will boat you out to some of the best snorkel sites in Turks and Caicos – and some even include food and drinks.
No trip to the island of Providenciales could possibly be complete without spending a Thursday night sampling all the fresh and salty delights of the iconic T & C Fish Fry. This local event that sees islanders mingling with travelers has been taking place on the sands of Bight Park close to Grace Bay for some time. It’s an evening of culture and chats, of live samba and dance, of laid-back Carib tunes and market stalls selling shell bracelets. Oh, and – of course – some of the best barbequed fish cuts you’ll ever taste! And when the sun goes down and the rum comes out, the resident Junkanoo Band takes over, serenading everyone into the early hours with their steel drums and singing.
Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales continues to be voted as the “best beach in the world” on many different travel sites (most notably Tripadvisor). It’s not hard to see why! With its pristine white sand beaches and vibrant turquoise waters, it’s so perfect, it looks as though it were photoshopped.
Bambarra Rum, ‘The Spirit of Turks & Caicos’, is an alcoholic beverage developed by the islanders that is sold in many liquor stores, supermarkets and bars. This national drink is delectable in rum punch and Mojitos as well as Cuba Libres. Among the products sold are the Bambarra Black, Bambarra Coconut Rum and Bambarra two-year-old Silver Rum.

Fishing in the waters of Turks and Caicos allows you to catch a variety of fish in varying depths of the ocean, such as blue marlin, bonefish, wahoo and sailfish. The Provo waters are perfect for exploring fishing styles, like traditional and bottom fishing. Bone fishing can be done in North Caicos, in the Bottle Creek flats.
Hidden behind a charming colonial façade of whitewashed terraces and red-tiled roofs, the Turks & Caicos National Museum is one of the top heritage draws of the archipelago’s capital, Cockburn Town. The building itself if known as Guinep House. (It’s named after the large tropical fruit tree that stands out front and is considered to have almost 200 years of history.) Inside and the collections begin in earnest, with the reconstructed archaeological remains of the iconic Molasses Reef Wreck – the oldest shipwreck in the entire Americas. Other exhibits look at islander culture and the native Lucayan peoples who resided here before the arrival of the Europeans.
