Hannah and Johnny met while he was attending Mount St. Mary's University in Maryland. When they initially began talking, he was about to leave for a Mission trip to South America and wouldn't be back for a first date until 9 days later. While she thought this was admirable, Hannah was not excited to have to wait 9 days to go on a date with this amazing boy! In the meantime, Hannah went around to her friends and family claiming that this was the man she was going to marry all based on a small conversation with him before he left and his Instagram. They all thought she was being silly and questioning how she could know that if they hadn't even gone on a date yet. Well to them she would like to say - see you at our wedding!! ( I knew I was right!) Sometimes, you just know. As soon as he got back she asked him out and told him she couldn't wait any longer. They spent almost every day hanging out over the next week and falling for each other. Then, Covid hit. Mount St. Mary's shut down and Johnny had to fly home to Atascadero, CA. What we're they going to do now that they were on opposite sides of the country? They decided to try long distance (after some convincing from Johnny's sister Becca, thank you Becca, I owe ya one!) and a month later Hannah came out to visit and meet Johnny's family. She loved it in California and found everyone to be so kind and friendly. She didn't want to leave, especially since Johnny had officially asked Hannah to be his girlfriend during this time. She went back home, but she had plan. Shortly after arriving back in Maryland, Hannah decided to take the chance and plan to move to California. It wasn't long after that her and her best friend Brittany were on the road to California to get her moved in. From there, Hannah and Johnny fell more and more in love with each other over the months and knew they wanted to be together for as long they could. Welcome to our happily ever after!
Johnny planned a secret trip to Salt Lake City, Utah with the help of his sister Becca and her close friend Alondra. There was a floating lantern festival that weekend, and he knew this would be perfect for a proposal. Hannah loves the Disney movie "Tangled" which, if you didn't know, has a huge theme around floating lanterns and she has always wanted to experience the "floating lights" in real life. The secret trip was set! The 4 of them took off driving and made a pit stop in Las Vegas for some fun and the next day continued towards Salt Lake City. About 2 hours outside of the destination, they received notification that the festival had been canceled due to the weather forecast. Everyone in the car was sadden by this news, but decided the best choice was to turn around and drive home. Queue Hannah internally freaking out in the back seat. While she didn't know what they were planning in Utah, she was assuming this was the day she was going to be proposed to. That being said, when everyone wanted to turn around and go home, she didn't know what to think anymore. She was confused and wondering if she was wrong this whole time. They got home late that night and Johnny expressed he would take Hannah out the next day to make up for it. He got up early and started putting together what would truly be the perfect proposal. He didn't have much time, but his family pitched in to help. He met with a local vineyard manager, picked a spot on a gorgeous hillside, and had Becca and Alondra set up a beautiful and romantic picnic. He picked up Hannah and headed towards the vineyard. On the short drive he played every song he could find with the title "Marry Me". Hannah's heart felt like it would burst out of her chest at any minute! After a quick tasting, he took Hannah up to the picnic, explained what his plan was for the weekend and how he couldn't wait any longer to ask her to marry him. He pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and she excitedly said "Yes"!
