I often said a man would come in the shop and sweep me off my feet and I guess that’s how it all started! Billy would come get his hair cut and ask me to go on a date and I would always decline. One day he said “let’s go to the movies” and so we went! He came to pick me up and we rode to Monroe. We went to Bruster’s for ice cream and then went to the movies! He officially asked me out December 20, 2019!

Our Christmas tradition is going to look at Christmas lights. Well, I had planned for the second weekend of December to do that until Clark texted me December 3, 2023 and said we would be having my mom’s birthday dinner at Sam Kendell’s on Saturday December 9, 2023. I questioned him at first because I was always the planner of birthday dinners but then just went along my way and told Billy we wouldn’t be going to see Christmas lights because we had to go to moms birthday dinner and he said we would find another weekend and I rolled my eyes! Little did I know what was going to unfold that weekend! Billy said he wanted to ride to my Papa Pressley’s shelter to look at a tractor when I got off on that Saturday, go to Agrisupply in Monroe to get something for his tractor and then we would be back for mom’s birthday dinner. So, I agreed and we set off to Jefferson to the shelter where he looked around and then he wanted to go look at the siding that is coming off the front of my Grandma Bonnie & Papa Pressley’s house and so I get out and walk up on the front door steps to fix Grandma Bonnie’s ceramic reindeer and when I turned around to tell Billy something there he was on one knee! I instantly started crying and he barely got out the words “will you marry me?” Of course I said yes! I went to my house to show my family, my Grandma Carolyn and Papa Johnny and made a million phone calls then we tore out to Monroe to go to Agrisupply. We didn’t have much time because we had to make it back to Sam Kendell’s for my mom’s dinner and upon arriving I realized it was an engagement party that Billy had planned with all of our close family and friends! We are forever grateful that God put us on this earth for each other! This was a day to remember! 🖤

I told Billy after we had been together for a while that if things were to ever get serious I wanted my Grandma Bonnie’s ring but I wanted it redone with his heart! He did just that with the help of Madison Ave in Hartsville! FUN FACT: Billy often jokes that he could work with the CIA after he got the ring redone, planned my proposal and my engagement party without me finding out!
