In April 2020, Zach and Caitlin were each living at their parents' houses on Long Island. What they thought would be a week or two visit turned into a much longer stay as the pandemic worsened. They each did what any 20-something would do during this time without social contact. They hopped on Hinge to potentially set up a date or two once the pandemic lifted. What Caitlin didn't expect was for Zach to ask her for a date over FaceTime. She was a bit apprehensive, but agreed to the virtual date. Over a glass of red wine for Caitlin and a Mountauk Wave Chaser for Zach, they realized they had much in common. Their favorite all-time tv show? Scrubs. Their favorite sports teams? Obviously the New York Mets and New York Jets, both fandoms passed down from their dads. They bonded over deeper conversation, as well, and when all was said and done, the pair had spoken for over 3 hours. After a few more virtual dates, the pair agreed to meet in person. Caitlin drove from Garden City to Port Washington to meet Zach for a walk to his favorite town deli, Harbor Deli. They ate sandwiches and talked some more, before making their way to the beach on Zach's block. The very spot Zach would propose 3 years later. As the pandemic softened, they began meeting in person in New York City. By the summer they were firmly a couple, enjoying outdoor dinners, merging each other's friend groups and spending dozens of Football Sunday's at Homebase. Over the years, Zach and Caitlin have traveled for vacations, celebrations and visits to each other’s alma maters (Zach has become a proud Tar Heel). They later moved in together in 2022, and Caitlin said yes to marrying Zach on May 20th, 2023. They are so excited to celebrate with you all on August 31st, 2024!
