N: Haley was the cutie that sat behind me right when vet school kicked off. I remember making small talk with her between classes and trying to play it cool. One day she mentioned she wanted to go for a ride and I told her next time I was in her neck of the woods we could make that happen. The very next opportunity I had I went straight to her side of town in order to text her that I happen to be around. We went for a sunset ride to the refuge (a beautiful cypress swamp with big views and pink skies) where we putted along the water. She had no idea I had planned this subtle romance, but it was clearly a good move. From there we began spending more and more one on one time together. By the end of August 2018, I told my great friend Sophia that I was going to marry this girl (a little premature but obviously not wrong. It is now over four years later and I typing a story in preparation for a wedding with the smartest, most caring, dedicated, all around lovable woman I know. (hi mom) H: Noah and I met at an interesting transition point in our lives. We both had left busy undergraduate settings where we were constantly in the middle of something to a place where we knew no one and let's be honest....I was bored. Painfully bored. One of my favorite things about Noah is his "bloom where you're planted mentality" and his ability to make his own fun wherever he is. One day while sitting in our vet school lecture hall, he turned around to me and said "So. What do you do for fun???". I truly didn't really know Noah but I leaned forward and all but yelled "Nothing! And I'm dying,". Maybe a little dramatic but a door was opened. When the same 'cool-guy-in-his-leather-jacket' parked his motorcycle next to my car in the school parking lot I implied that maybe I'd really love to go for a ride. Noah says that first bike ride is when he fell in love. Maybe a little untrue but our summer quickly turned to regular rides on this Mississippi back roads to the wildlife refuge where we'd kayak or hang hammocks. Noah and I bonded over our need to get away from the stresses and somewhat sedentary requirements of the in-class portion of vet school. We aren't the "sit still" type so we had to break up the studying with time exploring. This may have resulted in more pre-test studying all-nighters for us but hey, here we are! I love Noah for many reasons but the origins of our relationship tell a lot about why we work. I want a partner to not simply muddle through life with but rather someone to enjoy life with. I crave new experiences, seeing new places and also finding the joy in the place I am. Noah is the best man for that job.
