We met at a mutual friend's wedding and sat at the same table together. We took pictures in the photo booth, engaged in some small talk and laughed a lot. The night went on, but Andy still didn't ask for Haily's number. We went our separate ways, but reconnected on Facebook where Andy took a "shot in the dark" and asked Haily to go out some time. She said yes and it lead to our first date...
Both of us hate scary movies, but when Andy jokingly asked if Haily wanted to see Poltergeist in the theaters, she was up for the challenge. After filling up on pasta at Maggiano's, we endured the movie clinging to each other during all the jumpy parts. After the first kiss goodnight, they had their second date at Elitch Gardens the very next day. We only got to go on one ride, because it rained the entire time but we got to know each other more and more.
Andy took Haily on dates every weekend for about a month, and asked, "When can I call you my lady?" Although Haily was not looking for a long term relationship at the time, her mom convinced her to give him a chance. After all, he made her feel radiant and she did want to get to know him better. So she figured she could be his lady, and let this summer flower bloom into something spectacular.
Andy and Haily had a simple trip planned in Beaver Creek to go skiing/snowboarding with Mark, Lucy and Kyle... or so Haily thought. The entire ride up the mountain, while Haily dozed in and out of sleep, the rest of the car was buzzing with anxious excitement. Everyone else knew that Andy was planning to pop the question later that day. When Haily wanted to stop and take a picture, it was the perfect moment. Andy asked, "Should we have our helmets on or off?" thinking this was an odd question for a mid-ski picture, Haily replied, "On?" After Andy got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, Haily understood that its much harder to kiss someone with a helmet and goggles in the way.
