During one of the first events of freshman orientation, Grace and David met on the Quad of Duke's East Campus in 2014. They found out they lived on the same floor of the same dorm, and were only four doors down! After attending all of each other's mixers and rush events their freshman year, Grace and David started dating their sophomore year. Almost 10 years later, the rest is history!!

Grace and David were scheduled to spend two weeks on Long Island in April to get a change of scenery from the chilly spring months in Boston. After a few days of rain, they decided to take their dogs, Lucy and Fiona, for the first sunset beach walk of the season. It was a beautiful, crisp evening, and they were the only ones on the beach. After a few minutes, David and Fiona fell a few steps behind for Fiona to take in the smells of the dunes. Grace turned around wondering why they had fallen behind and saw him down on one knee! After a few seconds of Grace doing the happy dance, she said yes!! They took a few selfies and self-timer photos and called their families before heading home to celebrate with champagne and pizza. The next weekend, both David's and Grace's parents joined them at the beach to celebrate!
