We love this home goods store and stop here almost every time we're in town! They have a great mix of vintage and new items, perfectly curated.
Grace claims she doesn't even like donuts but she loves the donuts here. Made from potatoes, they're pillowy and dense at the same time (how do they do it??). Get a few different varieties!
If Chez Pannisse were in Portland Maine, it would be Fore Street. Rustic, cozy and superb food. The mussels are a must!!! We'd recommend reserving a table in advance. Or try one of their sister restaurants (they basically all have the same food) like Street & Co
This is the bakery for Fore Street Restaurant. There's usually a line out the door but it moves quickly! The breads and pastries are all great
Eventide is catering our wedding! But if you want to experience the buzzy restaurant for yourself, come here! Everything is amazing. But vegetarians and non-seafood eaters might not enjoy it as much... We'd recommend reserving a table in advance
This was the home of Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow and it's been restored by the Maine Historical Society to exactly how it was in the mid 19th century. We *love* this little museum with all the historic furniture on display and garden out back. There's also a rotating exhibit on the side of the house that's worth spending time in as well! If you didn't make a reservation for the museum or are short on time, it's worth wandering into their back garden that's open to the public.
Local surf shop, Ian makes a pilgrimage here every. single. time.
We love this bookshop, they have a great selection of esoteric Maine books (hikes, history, nature, etc) that Grace especially loves
We love getting ice coffees and cappuccinos from this spot before wandering around Portland on a hot summer's day. Best (3rd wave) coffee in town!
One can't leave Maine without a lobster roll! We love this fun, kitschy spot. Away from the main tourist strip, their lobster rolls are super fresh and well-priced. Plus, this street is very cute
If Remodelista had a kitchen goods store in Portland, Folly 101 would be that place!! They have beautiful home goods (mostly kitchen related) from favorite and local brands alike. Go have lunch at Highroller and come across the street to Folly 101
THE store in Portland for womenswear. If Rachel Comey, Ulla Johnson or Maryan Nassir Zadeh means anything to you, you'd love it here :)
Aside from the truly fantastic name, this shop has a really great selection of vintage clothing (especially mens) and vinyls
Incredible vintage mart with an eclectic mix of things from furniture to random knickknacks that you don't know what to do with but you'll love and treasure forever. The worst part of this store is that they're only open Friday and Saturdays
Next door to Portland Flea-For-All is this used books emporium where you'll find the most fascinating (and random) books. Great for browsing for entertainment
