The first time Riley laid eyes on Samantha was when he was staring at the back of her head in grad school. The first time he mustered up the courage to speak with her was equally romantic: complimenting her New Balance 574s (classic shoes). After copying her notes and relying on her to graduate, Riley came to his senses. “I’m going to ask her out on a date.” He proposed the idea to go to Boardroom - one of those bars where you can play board games from the 90s and find out you all had the same childhood. After suffering a devastating loss, sacrificing many brave soldiers on his Battleship, Riley could not believe he was outwitted by a girl with no experience in war strategy. All of those years fighting virtual wars online had gone to absolute waste. But Riley had met his match, and he knew a woman of this caliber was hard to come by. All is fair in love and war . . . but love won this battle.
