... when Sam picked Molly up from the Pittsburgh Airport. He'd driven through the polar vortex, from Florida to Pennsylvania, to be there when her flight landed. Back at Molly's apartment, they shared canned tomato soup, stale tortilla chips, and whiskey-- all that was left from the previous semester in Molly's pantry-- and talked through the night. That January, the weather rarely climbed above 0 degrees. They hardly noticed. They moved to New York City, eventually moving in together to a tiny apartment in Brooklyn. That apartment got a bit more crowded and a lot more chaotic when they adopted Izzy, their beloved pit-bull. On March 14th, 2020, on a walk with Izzy to their favorite park, Sam proposed to Molly and she said yes. Izzy hardly noticed.
