Our Story

It all began October 2018 in Charlotte at the wedding of Gretchen’s brother (Brian) and sister-in-law (Kirby). Gretchen was in town from D.C. as one of Kirby’s bridesmaids. Brett, living in Atlanta at the time, became great friends with Brian and Kirby while living in Charlotte, and snuck his way into the wedding party as an usher. Gretchen immediately caught Brett’s eye, and after a couple Miller Lites, he had the wisdom (nerve from Brian’s perspective) to ask her to dance. Gretchen was obviously impressed by Brett’s absurd dance moves because she didn’t run away from him at the reception. The next day, they met at the ‘gone but not forgotten’ Steelers bar, Fitzgerald’s. After watching football and scarfing down leftover wedding cake, it was time for her to fly back to D.C., and him to drive back to Atlanta. Having left a lasting impression on one another, they remained in touch for a while, but ultimately the timing was not yet perfect. Fast forward to April 2021: Brett and one of his Best Men, Dave, together known as “BRAVE”, were organizing their combined 30th birthday celebration in Charleston. Brett again had the wisdom (nerve from Brian’s perspective) to invite Gretchen who had since moved to Charlotte. The flame from a few years ago was instantly burning bright again, and their souls reconnected like no time had passed. The two began dating that summer, Brett moved back to Charlotte from Atlanta, and the rest is history. “Bretchen’s” love of adventure, travel, craft beer, hot yoga and more, continues to bring them closer every day. Lastly, we would be remiss not to mention their Bernedoodle fur baby, Reggie. He brings them so much joy and his endless energy keeps them on their toes. As it turns out, the timing of their journey together has always been perfect. tl;dr – Gretchen and Brett are soulmates.
