Here are some of our favorite places in the area. From restaurants and museums to places to hike.
Nu-Way Weiners

Nu-Way Weiners

1602 Montpelier Avenue, Macon, GA 31201
, (478) 812-8200

"I'd go a long way for a Nu-Way". Nu-Way is THE staple in Macon. Doesn't get much more local than this and it's Greta's all-time favorite and Oprah approved ;) Stop by for their infamous chili cheese dog or a burger. You've come a long way...you absolutely NEED a Nu-Way.

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

1207 Emery Highway, Macon, GA 31217
, (478) 752-8257

Honoring those who called Georgia home first. This was also one our first dates we went on when Brandon came to visit Macon for the first time. Great for those who would like to go on a scenic hike!

The Rookery

The Rookery

543 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201
, (478) 746-8658

From phenomenal food to delicious milkshakes (including a selection of adult shakes), you can't go wrong with the rookery. The rookery is known for their burgers and is even voted as the best burger in town

The Cannonball House

The Cannonball House

856 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201
, (478) 745-5982

Just a few houses away from the Hay House, This home received it's name due to damage made during the civil-war. Greta also worked here for about 6 months before college. If you're a history buff, stop by for a quick tour!

Ingleside Village Pizza

Ingleside Village Pizza

2395 Ingleside Avenue, Macon, GA 31204
, (478) 750-8488

Starting with dough made fresh in house every day, this hand-tossed, Macon-style (medium-thickness with heavy toppings) pizza is beloved by the locals. Not in the mood for pizza? They have many other options, including the worlds best garlic knots (by Brandon and Greta's standards). Make sure to order them "extra sloppy" to get extra garlic and butter...you won't be disappointed.

The Allman Brothers Band Museum at The Big House

The Allman Brothers Band Museum at The Big House

2321 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204
, (478) 741-5551

Macon is rich in music history. From Capricorn records to James Brown to the Allman Brothers band. We would be amiss to not direct you to at least one site to take it in. This home was where the "members of The Allman Brothers Band, their roadies, friends, and families lived until 1973. It was the focal point of gathering in those early years when the magic is The Allman Brothers Band was just taking shape and radiating from this historic Southern town". This is for lovers of the classics. Various members of the band are also buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon.
