It was friendship at first sight! And it grew into much more. We met at Deer Lake Athletic Club where she worked the front desk and I was a fitness instructor. One day I asked her out via a text message... smooth. After some whimsical back and forth texts she agreed to go out with me and the rest is history.

I wanted to do something a little different then just a dinner, a movie, bowling, etc. A fun fact about me is I love games and numbers. I figured out a favorable way of playing craps at a casino. A few weeks before I asked Heather out she had a medical emergency. She had to go to the hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, Deer Lake did not provide medical insurance and this left her with a bill. I thought we could go to the casino and maybe we would win some money. If we did not, we would still have a great dinner and experience. Heather and I could not have asked for a better date. The evening went extremely well with us taking in just over 700 hundred dollars from the casino. Afterwards, I told her why I wanted to bring her to casino, that the date planned had two purposes. I told her how I hoped we would win some money to cover her medical bills, and we did. A funny side story is that on the way to the casino she figured out that we were heading to Detroit. It was at this time that I told her part of my plans. Think about it, just imagine on your first date, your date tells you in the car that they have a system to win at a casino games. Right, red flag, this guy must have a gambling problem. We laugh about it still to this day. Heather knew me prior, and knew that was not me. Anyways, it worked all the way around.

Heather and I were hitting it off so I took it to the next level by doing the classic cooking dinner at the house. I prepared Chicken Alfredo from scratch including the noodles along with some fresh homemade baguettes. We both enjoyed our dinner and then we followed it up with a game. We both enjoy board games later to be proven as a test of our love. We decided to play the game Jenga. It was at this time that I asked Heather to be my girlfriend, officially. She said yes! Little did she know, that she would say yes again at the proposal. We are excited you can share with us the next time she says yes, or I mean, I do.

I surprised Heather with a trip to New York. This was her first time. We left the day after she finished her last college course to complete her degree and submitted her application to be a judicial clerk. I rented the Gapstow Bridge from the city and hired a photographer to capture all the precious moments. I planned a little white lie to get her to the park and fortunately, it worked without her suspecting. There was light rain that day and she almost did not dress up. But in the end she said yes!
