Our story

May 2018

Greg Titus is a physical therapist from Lynn, Massachusetts and Heather Duyck is an occupational therapist from Manistique, Michigan. Fresh out of college, they both became traveling therapists and both accepted a travel assignment in Newport, Vermont. A shared love of hiking, beers, warm flannel and soft pretzels created a fast friendship. As the summer in Vermont came to an end, Heather's next travel assignment took her to Washington State and Greg's to Cape Cod. They kept in touch, sharing humorous happenings from the day and dreams for the future. On October 21st, 2018 a postcard arrived in the mail. It was from Greg, asking if he could fly 3,000 miles across the country to take Heather out on a first date. The following weekend he arrived, dressed in his finest flannel, ready to sweep her off her feet. That first date (which was really an entire weekend) was meticulously planned. From a shared bottle of wine at a well hidden speakeasy to a nighttime gala at the aquarium, that first evening was magical. A romantic ferris ride on the Seattle pier was the perfect time for Greg to reveal plans for a surprise plane ride over the San Juan islands the following day. To Heather, he seemed calm, cool, and quite possibly the smoothest guy she had ever met. They joked that nothing ever seemed to fluster him. On the final evening before his return flight home, they shared a stroll down a quaint Seattle neighborhood street, twinkle lights glimmering overhead. He mustered the courage to ask for a first kiss, and upon pulling away, placed Heather's hand over his heart. "This is what I am like when I'm nervous", he said. Upon feeling his racing heart, Heather knew she was falling for him just as fast. Luckily, the long distance relationship didn't stay that way, and soon Greg and Heather became a traveling PT/OT couple, creating countless memories with each new assignment. Three years later atop a waterfall in Yosemite National Park, Greg got down on one knee. This time his nervousness manifested by facing the ring box the wrong way. No matter, she knew the custom ring he designed inside was a reflection of his love, and as such was absolutely perfect. After much deliberation on the perfect way to share our vows, we are so excited for you to joint us in Maine as we say "I do" in January 2023!
