Art museums and live music, sleeping under the stars, cooking for each other, swapping music recommendations, park picnics, long drives to see the aspens change, sliding on snow, deep talks, silly voices, reading to each other. Coffee, meandering bike rides, solar-charging, tending the garden and watching things grow, and grow, and grow in the Colorado sun.
We were on a spring break trip to hike through the rainforest and swim in the warm waters of Kauai. The island showed us a great time, inviting us to ramble around and marvel at its natural beauty. We camped every night and felt right at home. We were extra stoked to hike the Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali Coast - a bucket list goal for Katie, and somewhere Greg was unsuspectingly aware of even after 10,000 viewings of Jurassic Park. Though we're avid hikers, the Kalalau Trail is no easy feat; 12 miles one way going up and down ridgelines caked in shin-deep mud with steep cliffs along the ocean made us a bit nervous. But the trail welcomed us warmly! We had clear skies and a freshly groomed bit of trail on the sketchiest part. We walked through ancient settlements and nibbled on wild guava as we made our way to Kalalau Beach. By the time we reached camp, we were sufficiently wiped out. At the far end of the beach, a waterfall flows like a natural shower - perfect for weary hikers. We washed our worries away in the tropical waters, Greg dropped to one knee, and we decided to do stuff like this together for the rest of our lives. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter with you. See you in Kansas City!
