Believe it or not, we first met at a carnival party via a mutual friend (Leeann). Greg didn’t have big plans to go to this party but as the saying goes ‘carnival is bacchanal’, and the schemes of this mutual friend brought our worlds together at Bacchanal Road in 2019! Our romance was not ignited until later that year when our scheming cupid invited us out for a group hangout and cancelled last minute, leaving Greg and I ample time to get acquainted. One lime turned into many over time and our platonic relationship blossomed into a romantic one. Unfortunately this romance was almost short lived as Greg was offered another job in the USA and the future of #TheGram was uncertain, until divine intervention took the wheel... As strange as it sounds, we can thank the Covid-19 pandemic for our blossoming love story. Greg was packed and ready to continue his ‘rolling stone’ lifestyle in the USA, but the week before his planned departure, lockdown struck. The time we spent together during those 2 years, away from the distractions of the world, in the face of unprecedented uncertainty, led us to know each other mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The more we learned about each other, the stronger our love became...
Jamz version: I love a good birthday trip! Greg planned this birthday trip to Tobago and was constantly checking in to see if I took time off, that I got my hair and nails done etc, was he more excited than me for this birthday celebration? We went to our favourite hotel on the island (Blue Waters Inn) where he planned a fun-filled day of adventures on my birthday. It was beautiful and I felt very loved and appreciated. Little did I know that my biggest birthday surprise was soon to come! Under the guise of a romantic birthday dinner at sunset, Greg went on bent knee. He proposed and I said yes! Greg's version: It was Jamz' birthday. June 19th, 2023...Time to activate d' romance! This woman asks a million questions, so I had to create numerous diversions to throw her off the trail. I told her that her birthday gift was a stay at our favorite resort in Tobago, then I planned a whole day of romantic bday activities to soften her up for d' big shabang. We meditated at dawn on the pier overlooking the ocean, then had a romantic breakfast with birthday cake and candles. We then took a fishing boat to a secluded beach called "Lovers Bay" and had a romantic picnic. In the afternoon I had dinner planned at the hotel, and had been scheming with the staff for weeks about setting the stage... But Jamz doh go down without a fight...she ate a heavy Tobago lunch and was near impossible to rouse from her..."ethnic fatigue" in time for the sunset drinks, but I persevered... Mih boy by d hotel bar came through with the surprise table set-up overlooking the ocean, sparkling champagne, and drinks strong enough to tranquilize a horse. The staff even created a final diversion by masking the event as a birthday surprise, complete with balloons and confetti. Hear nah, this gyul was already in romantic tears just from the bday surprise... Anyway, after a few drinks and a conversation about sharing a future together, Bar-man and I sprung the plan into action...he created a diversion by getting her to pose for a pic, while I maneuvered behind her and got onto one knee... Question popped, waterworks ensued (tears, nose running, all kinda ting), and the deal was done!
