Tickets are around 25 euros and the ferry ride is only about 30 minutes! With the first ferry from Sorrento leaving at 7:15 in the morning and the last ferry leaving Capri at 6:30 in the evening, it is a great day trip or even just a good excursion for lunch to see a different part of the Amalfi Coast. For those more adventurous, consider seeing the blue grotto around Capri, one of the wonders of the world!
If you are looking to get more in touch with the historical side of the Amalfi Coast, a tour of the ancient city ruins of Pompeii & Herculaneum is the perfect day trip. Destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius but preserved by the hardened lava that remained, Pompeii and Herculaneum are archeological treasures that provide a picture of Italy's history frozen in time.
Another great day trip option is taking the bus, ferry, or a vespa if you are wanting to get more in touch with your Italian side, to the picturesque towns of Positano and Amalfi. With Positano only being 30 to 45 minutes from Sorrento depending on form of transportation, it is a great way to go see more of the coast without going too far and if you have enough time, the quaint town of Amalfi is just another 30 minutes from Positano.
If you are feeling more adventurous, consider making your way to the secluded beach of Bagni Regina Giovanna. A 40 minute walk from the Sorrento city center, or a short bus ride away, Bagni Regina Giovanna is a sea alcove that is home to the ruins of an ancient Villa, owned by the nobleman, Pollio Felice, from Pozzuoli.
