Our Story

Grayson’s Version

After the summer of 2017, a lot of “crazy nights”, I decided to get my act together. In doing so, I took weightlifting more seriously. Then comes September and I went to Stillwater to support my friend Katie in a powerlifting meet! While I was there, a certain bar loader caught my eye when he asked “have we met before?” I really didn’t remember this guy in that moment, but did think to myself “you are cute.” I responded with a no and he says, “well, I’m David.” Later on, my friend said she saw me talking to David and that he was perfect for what I was looking for at the moment, Godly community. After some inward battle, I reached out to David stating “hey, I think we did meet before!” Really just using it as a conversation starter. A few messages later, we exchanged numbers. And a few weeks later, we decided to meet for coffee. He was great, but different. So we decided to stay friends! Slowly God started placing David so perfectly into my life throughout holiday gatherings, group hang outs, and even a random, very convenient coffee meet up after Christmas. Quickly realizing I had a major crush on the guy, and the feelings were mutual, it didn’t take LONG for us to give this dating thing a try! And I’ve been pretty certain he was a guy worth spending a lifetime with ever since! Our relationship has challenged me, shaped me, and pushed me closer to Christ more than ever before. David is a beautiful example of God’s love for others, acceptance and grace, and continuously reminds me to take up my cross and follow Christ, daily. A marriage with this man is going to be so fulfilling and God honoring! I. Can’t. Wait.

Our Story

David’s Version

4 score and 7 years ago… in the fall of 2017, I was volunteering to help spot a local powerlifting meet in Stillwater. At the event, I saw an old friend from college I used to work with at the Colvin named Katie who was competing, and I also happened to notice this girl from afar cheering Katie on as she lifted. She always videoed her right next to me, so I was wondering if it was intentional. And not going to lie, she already caught my eye because she’s beautiful. So I took the next opportunity she came up there to strike up a conversation. I said something like, “Hey, haven’t we met before? You look really familiar.” She said that she didn’t think so. So I said, “Oh well if we haven’t met, I’m David by the way.” And she was like, “My name is Grayson.” (I already knew this) After the event, believe it or not! Grayson messaged me on Facebook saying something like, “Actually I think we did meet before…” Henceforth, we continued to talk and exchange in conversation through text. We decided to meet up for coffee one Sunday and hit up church after. In the coming months, Grayson and I started hanging out in groups with mutual friends. As I got to know Grayson, I started seeing how she interacted with others. I saw her heart for God through this. After SMC 2018, I realized, I for sure liked her. The next weekend I had a powerlifting meet. She came to support...and met my mom. My mom liked her instantly, that was big time! I began talking to my bros about this prospective woman and if dating was the move for me. The next weekend, we met up again in Stillwater, and after talking major game, I asked her out on an official date. From the beginning till now, she’s always been by my side. She’s continually loving me and pushing me to live for Christ better. It didn’t take long into the relationship to know that I wanted to marry her and spend the rest of my life with her, and now I get to do that.
