The first time Grant and I met happened in Jackson, MS. We both won an essay competition for the Rural Electric Cooperatives in our county, we attended their Youth Leadership Conference weekend in February 2015. In a room of 200 people, Grant and I met by chance when he offered me his sweater. When the conference ended we went back to our lives thinking we would never see each other again. Although, we met again on the Electric Cooperatives Youth Leadership Tour of Washington, D.C during the summer that same year. During that trip were we inseparable. We talked and learned about each other over the course of the week. When we explored Washington, D.C. together we did not know this would be the beginning of a lifetime of traveling together. When the week ended we were sad to say goodbye since we knew we lived far from each other. Grant and I ended up losing touch for a few months as we settled back into our lives, but our families saw pictures from the trip and asked about each other. Grant reached out to me to tell me he was playing football against a high school in my town on September 4th. My maid of honor Gabby Coats brought me to his football game and from that day on we spoke everyday and began dating on October 17th, 2015. Grant and I spent a few weekends together when we could while we were long distance for two and a half years through the rest of high school and into college. It wasn't until Grant took an internship with International Paper, in Memphis for the spring of 2018, that we lived in the same city. When the internship ended I moved to Starkville, MS to attend Mississippi State University to pursue my bachelor degree in elementary education while he pursued a bachelor degree in business. We became engaged on May 18th 2019 in Memphis. Although our plans have changed we are still to be married on May 2nd, 2020 in an intimate ceremony in Starkville, MS. Our wedding to celebrate with family and friends has been rescheduled to July 10th, 2020.
