Looking back to their high school trigonometry class, who would have thought there were just a few feet separating Grace and Weston from their soulmates. For months they were so close but only exchanged a few hello's and school-based questions. They knew of one another, but knew little about each other. That changed a bit in December of 2019 when Grace headed to Mizzou to explore the campus after completing her associate's degree in Kansas City. They struck up a conversation and Weston offered to show Grace around the campus. After hanging out occasionally they again went their separate ways but that was far from the end of their story. In the summer of 2021 their paths crossed again during a night out in the KC Power and Light District. It was ‘Hot Country Nights’ night and little did they know that their 'forever' began with a quick chat catching up on each other’s lives and a simple “you should text me in the morning” from Weston. They once again went their separate ways but they didn't stay separated for long. After a few days of chatting, a coffee date was set. Panic ensued, however, as Weston learned that Grace did not drink coffee. The day was saved as a Chai Tea Latte was an option at the Roastery where they had their first date. It didn’t take long for Weston to decide that this simple coffee date was not nearly enough time to spend together. Before their cups were empty Weston asked if Grace wanted to get breakfast together as well. During breakfast at First Watch the conversation never stopped and the sparks were flying. Breakfast went off without a hitch! This simple date was followed up by many more and some wonderful adventures too. Some include trips to spend holidays with family, vacations from beaches to mountains, and transitioning from long distance dating to living under the same roof in Minnesota with Zeus and Mj their beloved pets. They now look forward to many new adventures as Mr. and Mrs.!
Weston’s 2023 spring break was exciting and nerve racking. However, this excitement stemmed from the knowledge that Weston was going to propose to Grace. For several months leading up to Weston’s spring break in March, he was planning the perfect proposal. From the location, to the debrief dinner after, to the plethora of additional details that needed to be coordinated. Despite the extent of the planning needed to create the perfect proposal, there was something even more important that Weston needed. It was not the ring that he purchased months before the proposal, it was Grace’s Dad’s permission. After three days of taking long walks with Declan, Grace’s dad, in the last stretch of the final walk, Weston built up the courage to ask. Weston had carried the ring in the ring box with him for the entirety of all three walks, but great conversations and nerves hindered Weston’s ability to ask. After asking Weston was met with an overwhelming yes and an excited future father-in-law. After this came the even bigger question, “Will you marry me”. Before we get to that, Weston witnessed multiple near misses as Grace was merely inches away from the ring on multiple occasions. Thankfully Grace never stumbled upon the ring. Now to move to the proposal itself. With the help of Colston and Bri DiBlasi, Weston’s brother and sister-in-law, marque letters were obtained to help set the perfect scene for the proposal. By this point the location had been chosen as well. The proposal was set to happen on March 18th, 2023, at 6:30 pm in the conservatory at the COMO Zoo in MN. As Weston and Grace arrived, Weston asked Grace to wait in the car while he went into the conservatory. Grace received a call moments later asking her to come in. As Grace entered, she was met with a breathtaking sight. Flowers, fountains, and her soon to be fiancé. Weston was standing in front of four foot tall back lit letters that displayed what was about to happen. Those letters spelled out that ever so important question that so many desire to hear. They spelled out “MARRY ME”. As Grace walked down the corridor towards her beloved, she could find no words, she was overwhelmed with pure bliss. This was the moment that she had only dreamt of, this was a moment that we would never forget.
