Grace and Holt first met in September of their freshmen year (2015) at Abilene Christian University. They quickly became friends (to Holt's dismay) and their friendship continued to grow and flourish over the next 3 years. Holt finally got the courage to ask Grace on a date August 2018 (their senior year) and Grace said "Sure, why not?" .... then Grace decided to re-friendzone Holt for a few more months. November 2018, Grace realized that she should give Holt a shot and it was the best decision she ever made! Holt graduated in December and moved to Dallas in January while Grace was stuck in Abilene until May when she graduated. The long distance was definitely the hardest part of their relationship but it made their love grow so much stronger! Now they both live in Frisco, TX and happily get to see each other every day.
Saturday, November 30 was the Herndon family Thanksgiving and family photos had been planned for this day for a while. It started like a normal Saturday: everyone was up making food, watching TV, playing with the dogs, and getting ready for family photos. We were trying to do photos in the backyard but decided that it was just too bright and the sun was at a bad place to be taking group photos. When everyone was about to go back inside, Holt asked his Aunt Brenda to take some photos of them (this is when Grace started getting suspicious because Holt never asks to take pictures!). After a few photos are taken, Holt walks over to his dad, hands him his phone and gets the ring. Holt then walked back over to Grace, gave a speech that neither of them remember (and no one else heard) and then got down on one knee and asked Grace to marry him! The question barely came out of his mouth before Grace said "YES!" and embraced him. A few moments passed of cheering from the family before Holt quietly said "Well put the ring on," not realizing he was supposed to put it on Grace's finger. Grace replied "Well, give it to me then!!" and of course everyone only heard Grace's comment. After a few more family photos and a FaceTime to Grace's best friend, Thanksgiving went on, turkey was eaten, and stomachs and hearts were full!
