On the cusp of 2020 I noticed Ethan on a bus in Israel. He was journaling, just like I was, and that caught my eye. I might have mentioned something to my friends later on that "that Ethan boy seems cool" but nothing really came of it until a few weeks later when, back at Wheaton, I asked him to be my date for a "Roomie Date Night", now fondly referred to as "girls night." Ethan said "yes I'm free" in the cafeteria food line— a romantic place to ask your future husband out on a date. After a successful "girls night", we went on a second date where we participated in a Trivia Fundraiser for an Elementary School in Batavia, ate some delicious tacos and dressed (just Ethan) up at Goodwill. Besides hitting it off with some local scientists at trivia, we both knew that something really special had begun. Right away we did long distance due to Covid, but with letter writing, Facetime and eventually some trips to each other's homes (including Long Lake) we made it through with flying colors. Indeed, despite the distance, our fast friendship and relationship was growing into a wonderful love story that God was so obviously a part of. Since then, we've gotten to enjoy a full year of college together at Wheaton College, many visits with our eight lovely grandparents in Shippensburg PA, Clearwater FL, Lancaster PA and (the far away) Wheaton, a family trip to Maine with the Berts, many evenings with Mom and Dad Pointner in Winfield and even an adventure at Long Lake with our friends. The Lord has truly anointed our journey as a couple and we pray that He will continue to walk with us and guide us through this life that we can't wait to live together.
