Grace and I met through a dating app when Grace was on a trip in Europe, so we ended up staying in touch via text messaging for three weeks before meeting in person. It turned out that we lived within a few minutes walk of each other in the Fremont/Wallingford neighborhoods in Seattle. When Grace arrived back in Seattle after her Europe trip, I asked her out for beers and dinner at a local Fremont restaurant half way between both of our homes. From that day on, we spent as much time together as we possibly could. By the end of the year we both knew -- this is it!
Chase and I love to hike, so when we moved to Nashville in January 2020, we often looked for day hikes we could drive to. On March 14th, 2020, we drove for Fiery Gizzard Trail and started hiking in chilly, drizzly weather. We hiked for hours on the sometimes hard to follow trail, and in the afternoon we didn't think we'd make it to the summit before the sun was too far down, so we'd be hiking back in the dark. Chase insisted that we keep going until we found a view point, and I rolled my eyes and followed. Finally, we decided to break off from the trail and found a perfect spot to take in the full view of the valley the trail circumnavigates. I went into our shared backpack to pull out my camera and some hiking snacks, and when I stood up Chase was on one knee. The rest is history! We're so excited to celebrate starting this next chapter in our lives with you. See you at Semiahmoo!
