'Twas the summer of 2014... And Samantha was invited to a night out to accompany a couple of friends for a welcome home party for some guy named "Steven." Two weeks afterwards, Steven and Samantha were inseparable... until Steven was deployed for 10 months and Samantha had to complete her senior year of college. As the classic "Notebook" story goes, the two kept in touch via emails, letters and Facebook messages. Nearly a year later, Samantha's first job out of college relocated her to Los Angeles. And guess who happened to be a measly 2.5 hours' drive away? - Steven Smith, Jr.! Thus begun the romance. Until July 29, 2018 - and guess how he popped the question?

Exactly 4 years to the date from when they first met, Steven planned an elaborate scheme with the help of his mother and his and Samantha's close relatives. His mother created a "Family Appreciation" party in the middle of July, and everyone was invited to bring gifts for each other. They all ate, played music, and had a great time exchanging gifts to each individual - Pollyanna style. Steven had a very special gift for Samantha, which included a notebook filled with pictures, ticket stubs, plane tickets, and hotel keys from their travels and adventures together. He had her read every page out loud to the gathered family members. At the end of the book, he took a poll of all the family members and their answers to his question were, "Yes," "yes," "Of course!" and "YESSSSss!" After she read this out loud, he dropped to one knee and pulled out a ring and asked, "Now, what do you say?" She said, "Yes, of course!"
