Just as all great college love stories begin, one remembers the first time they met and the other does not. Jack recalls meeting Katherine at their first leadership program seminar the first week of college. Already skeptical about the seemingly “nerdy” program his mom made him apply to, Jack was not looking forward to the program’s meet and greet. As Jack was scoping out potential new friends, Katherine and Elizabeth (her new roomie bestie of two days) energetically made their introductions. Jack immediately thought to himself, "What type of program have I gotten myself into?" First semester came and went. In January, Katherine and Jack were placed in the same service group for their leadership program. Once a week Katherine and Jack would spend an hour volunteering at The Hope Center's after-school program. As they spent more time together, Jack would wait on the 9th floor of Kiewit every Tuesday for Katherine to get done with Chemistry class, then they would walk to service together. One Wednesday night, Katherine and some of her friends were at The Jay for Wendnes-Jay. While there, Katherine thought it would be a great idea to invite Jack to join them. She excitedly texted Jack, "Come to the Jay!" then anxiously awaited his response. To her disappointment Jack responded with, "Who is this?" The rest of Freshman year, Jack and Katherine spent their time dancing at date parties and formals, watching Creighton Basketball, going to concerts, attending Candlelight Mass, and hanging out on the roof of the Old Gym. When it came time for move out day, Katherine ran down the hall to give Jack a hug before heading their separate ways for the summer— Jack to Chicago and Katherine to Kansas. They kept in touch throughout the summer, and when they moved in their Sophomore year Jack gained the courage to officially ask Katherine to be his girlfriend on August 22, 2016!

On June 19, 2022, during a trip to Omaha, Jack proposed outside of Saint John’s Church on Creighton University’s campus. With the support of loving friends and family, Jack and Katherine continue to grow more in love every day. Together, they both live in Chicago where they love hanging out with their many friends, old and new alike. Jack spends his extra time playing in various basketball leagues around the city and volunteering with high schoolers through Old Saint Pat's Foundations program, while Katherine loves running along Lake Michigan. For work, Katherine journeys with patients and families during their time in the Cardiac ICU as a nurse, while Jack works in finance for a start-up company. Jack and Katherine are so happy to have you share in their love forever!
