They met singing in The Voices of Lee while attending Lee University. As fate would have it, friends turned into best friends. When Covid hit, the group began to shift - Joel changed to the role of sound engineer and Courtney began her senior year out of the group. Slowly they felt their hearts had grown to be more than best friends. Their favorite memories together were the ones on a hill on the outskirts of town, as the sun fell, with a small picnic and the world below them. In those moments, they dreamed of what the future might look like for the two of them. They found long-distance to be hard, as Courtney moved home post-graduation and began teaching as an Elementary Music Teacher. As the saying goes, "distance makes the heart grow fonder," and they continued to grow in their love for each other. On January 22nd, 2022, Joel got down on one knee and Courtney beamed as she said "yes!" And so their love story continues...
