The Wedding Website of Gabrielle Mehlman and Micah Gelfand
Question

Tell me about IslandWood.

Answer

Islandwood is located on 250 beautiful acres on Bainbridge Island. During the week it is dedicated to environmental education, and on weekends is available for celebrations and corporate retreats. Throughout the weekend, there will be planned outdoor activities you can sign up for, and you will have time to explore its forested trails, pond, meadow, garden, two treehouses, suspension bridge and canopy tower. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for overnight guests.

Question

What is the attire for the wedding?

Answer

The attire for the wedding is semi-formal! This typically means dresses and suits, ties are optional. We recommend comfortable shoes that work on any surface, especially grass and gravel. Also, bring a light layer for the (hopefully) outdoor ceremony. All other events during the weekend are casual. We recommend a layer for the campfire on Friday as well.

Question

How do I get to IslandWood?

Answer

- From Seattle - Take the ferry across from the Seattle Ferry terminal. See here for schedule: https://tinyurl.com/weddingferry You can take the ferry with or without a car. IslandWood is a 10-minute ride from the ferry terminal on Bainbridge. There will be shuttles from the ferry to IslandWood available at key times: Friday from 3:30 to 7:30pm, Saturday from 3 to 5pm and 10pm to 12am, and Sunday from 8am to 12pm. See the "Ferry Times & Shuttles" page for details. - From Seattle Tacoma airport - You can either find public transportation into Seattle (Uber, Lyft, Taxi or Lightrail) and then take the ferry, or you can rent a car. If you rent a car, you can drive 1.5 hrs directly to IslandWood without going through Seattle, or you can drive ~25 min into Seattle and take the car across the ferry. Please note that there are no car reservations on the ferry. It is first come, first serve and thus you may need to wait through one or more departures to get onto a ferry.

Question

What amenities are there at IslandWood?

Answer

There is wifi, though it is better the closer you are to the Welcome Center so you may go there (or the Dining Hall nearby) if you need a stronger connection. Hair dryers and small fans are available, so if there is not one in your room you may request one. There is a small fridge in each lodge for medication or other needs, and a linen closet that also has first aid and laundry. We will also be providing a basket of amenities for anything small you may have forgotten, and there are small items available in the gift shop as well. Each bathroom has a 3-in-1 soap. Let us know if you have any questions!

Question

What should I bring?

Answer

You may want a reusable water bottle, walking shoes, a yoga or hiking outfit, or birding binoculars (if you plan to do these activities on Saturday), and layers! A rain jacket is always recommended in the PNW. And you may want bug spray this time of year.
