MARJI'S STORY: On one of those ancient pre-covid days (circa 2017) at the legendary New School of Montpelier, I met this guy named Glenn and was immediately intrigued by his humor, commitment to students, and wicked intelligence. As a classroom teacher, one of my jobs was to help create student award ceremonies, like the upcoming Winter “Celebration of Our Learning” event. For this ceremony, I wanted the “Value Viking” to both facilitate the awards ceremony and hand out awards to our students. It wasn’t hard figuring out who I wanted to play this part. Because of my obvious crush on Glenn, I asked him. And to my excitement, he agreed. And boy howdy, did he deliver. He, a natural orator, presented each student with an award that showcased their personal growth throughout the semester. He went above and beyond with this task, arriving in full costume, coupled with a booming voice and twinkle in the ole eye. To no one’s surprise, his praise and acknowledgement of these students’ strengths created a truly joyful and memorable experience for everyone involved. And that’s when I decided to ask him out on a date via text a few days later. After the first date, we decided to give this relationship a go. And it’s been one wild, roller coaster of an adventure, complete with unexpected twists and turns. Glenn continues to enrich my life, with his humor, weird interests, bits of odd knowledge, support and love. I dig him very much. In our 7ish years of being together, we have created a cornucopia of deep love, humor, partnership, and memories that has rocked. We can’t wait to continue this journey together! GLENN'S STORY: We met. It was awkward. And now we're getting married.
