It was a cool friendship consisting of shared CD’s (to be found years later), casual run ins at G’s parties (sorry Henry & Rose), & cryptic Facebook posts. We had our own groups, activities, & significant others. By no means were we high school sweethearts. Fast forward 6 years, we'd seen new places & experienced new things; B in Michigan, G in Boston & London. We opened our eyes to the world outside Ms. B’s class. It’s a shared desire to see the world & step outside comfort zones that brought us together & continues to strengthen our bond. G, having just moved back from London, was surprised to see B at a gift exchange with her friends in LA. After that night, we quickly realized many shared interests, particularly food, wine, travel, & music. One night G suggested B “might consider cutting his hair.” For those who knew B from '05-'15, the Flow (RIP) was not to be taken lightly. Sure enough, the next day B was at the barber chopping the Flow. B knew this new friendship was likely something more. Weeks later, G asked on FB if anyone would be in France in the fall. Although it was more of a fantasy, B chimed in that he was “planning” a trip at that time. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!” Casual drinks about France turned into dinner dates, which quickly turned into weekends in Napa, Indio, Paso Robles, & Santa Barbara and a budding relationship. When G's trip around the world came, we weren't ready to give up our new relationship & decided to try our luck with long distance. Eight months flew by & B even made good on his France “plans.” Once G was back, our relationship normalized. Home-cooked meals & Netflix replaced FaceTime & WhatsApp, intertwined with conversations about goals, family, & future. Travel has always been & still remains an integral part of our relationship, but LA will always be our home. Against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Como, we committed to be married & this September we make it official with our family & friends in LA.
