Our first date was a long time coming -- 12 years to be exact. We were each others' secret crushes in high school where we sat next to each other in Mrs. Woodward's precalculus honors class. Fast forward to 2015 when Chris first moved up to Portland. Angela messaged him on Facebook saying, "We should grab a beer!" We were both traveling at the time and agreed to get together upon our returns to Portland. This never happened. A couple years later, Angela decides to give Tinder another shot after a breakup. Lo and behold she sees Chris on it and definitely swipes right (though for the record she was planning to message him again on Facebook because she hadn’t forgotten about that beer they never had!). Chris and Angela decide to go on a lunch date to feel each other out because they didn't know if it was the novelty of seeing someone they knew on Tinder that prompted the match, or a genuine attraction. Seeing as this supposed lunch date lasted until nearly midnight, it clearly was the real deal. They met for lunch at Elephant's on Corbett, strolled along the Willamette river, walked across the Tillikum bridge, ate ramen, and shared epic life stories. Chris says he knew she was the one when they walked through the muddy river bank and Angela did not freak out after getting mud all over her shoes and feet. Angela knew he was something special because he got her to walk for miles without even noticing... and for not evoking a freakout when she got mud all over her shoes!
