Fun fact: there are no stoplights in Sayulita and you can walk from one end of the town (or the beach) to the other in just 15 minutes! The village has beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunsets, and a taste of small town Mexico in an incredibly safe environment. What Sayulita lacks in your typical mega-resorts, insane night clubs, and chain restaurants, it makes up for with cobblestone streets lined with shops, taco vendors, fresh caught fish to your plate, and colorful architecture. The town has a hip, trendy and charming feel, with a long list of delicious restaurants, boutiques, beautiful villas and activities, including surfing, whale watching, yoga and golf.
Our favorite restaurant! Located in the nearby seaside town of Punta de Mita, MINA is about a 10 minute drive from the Conrad. Can't go wrong with any of the seafood here or the cucumber jalapeño margs. Reservations recommended.
Sayulita is one of the best beach towns in Mexico, and this family-owned surf shop is perfect for beginner surfers looking to catch waves for a couple of hours right in town. You can rent a board and even arrange a lesson.
If you love mezcal (and if you're our friends, there's a 99% chance you do), CAVA has the medicine you need. Try the smoky raicilla for something new.
Ride the Malpaso Trails between Sayulita and San Pancho on a guided tour by local mountain bike riders. All proceeds from guided trips/permits go toward trail maintenance.
Some of the best tacos and burritos in town. Try their famous Itacate cheese burrito - wrapped in a shell of fried cheese instead of a tortilla. Warning: may lead to a nap.
Whether it’s to catch your dinner or just enjoy some time on the Pacific Ocean, you can go fishing with locals. There’s definitely plenty of fish in the Sayulita bay; you shouldn’t have any problems catching some. Just walk south on the beach and you’ll find where the fishermen leave their boats. You might also want to check out Captain Pablo’s Adventures, which offers fishing tours.
