A quick hike with a beautiful overlook of the Colorado River & Austin! Parking is limited.
The first park we visited during COVID. Its a big pink giant granite rock. A steep, but quick climb to the top with lots of other trails in the park. The earlier in the day you go, the better. Due to its popularity, it hits capacity quickly...not to mention that Texas sun gets hot! Reservations are not required, but suggested on weekends. Entry fee is $8/per person ages 13+.
Tours are free and happen daily.
A fun area with local shops & restaurants!
There are many wineries in this area and in Fredericksburg! We haven't been to one we don't like yet. This one requires reservations for tastings.
Another beautiful winery in the Texas Hill Country! This one does not require reservations for tastings.
Fun outdoor bar & patio with live music! Take caution when ordering their infamous man-mosa - a whole bottle of champagne with a little OJ :)
You can't come to Texas and not get some BBQ! There are a ton of options & you can't go wrong with any of them, but we love Black's. We are partial to the New Braunfels location, but this family makes the best Texas BBQ. Ryan's smoked brisket is a close second ;)
Another famous Texas BBQ spot. Much better from here than the airport.
Full disclosure we have not eaten here, but our friends from California who are self proclaimed foodie snobs say its the best ramen they have ever had.
Another cool state park if you're up for a hike.
