How We Met

2018

Before Melissa became a teacher in Danbury, she started her career at The Southport School. The bride and groom met when Melissa was with the maid of honor, Tiffany and her husband Justin. We went to Local, where George worked as a bartender. Melissa noticed the extremely handsome George behind the bar. George took Melissa’s order for disco fries. If you don’t know what disco fries are, they are fries with a sausage gravy on top, keyword: “sausage”. When the order arrived Melissa, who doesn’t like sausage, called George over. She told him that she was unaware that there was sausages in the mix and wanted to correct her order. George, already busy with an almost full bar, came over to here what she had to say and he listened. When Melissa finished explaining the mix up, he looked up, grabbed a menu, put it down and said; “it literally says it on the menu”. So, Melissa ate her sausage fries and remembered the grumpy bartender. Enter Bumble, the dating app of 2018 where the lady initiates contact. Imagine Melissa’s surprise when she comes across George on the app. At George’s request, Melissa opened their texting conversation with a line from a movie. That movie was, Top Gun. Maverick says, “You can be my wing man.” George responded back with the correct response from the movie, “bullshit, you can be mine.” At a time when Melissa and George were already looking for homes to start their family of 3 with Jake, a surprise blessing was on his way. It was April 2019 and Colin David was due to complete our family in January 2020. We moved to Bethel, lived in 2 homes, George changed careers and is a Digital Banker. Melissa went back to school to obtain a certification in teaching students that are learning English while teaching kindergarten. Jake is thriving in 8th grade, while Colin continues to learn and grow with Miss. Katie.

The Proposal

Easter 2022

It was Easter Sunday, 2022. Leading up to Easter Sunday, several family members mentioned that they wanted to come by our house in the morning. Melissa could not understand that if we were all going to the same celebration, why was everyone coming to our house first? First to arrive was Lisa, Pete and Chela. We poured mimosas and said, “cheers”, before Nancy, Lenny and Sarah arrived. Once everyone walked into the house and was settled, Melissa went into the other room to finish her dessert for Easter. When she came out, everyone was seated on the couch and George was standing. Melissa looked at him and he dropped to one knee to change her life forever.
