We met in college through a mutual friend years before we started dating. We didn't think anything of it at the time, as we didn't speak much the first time we met. Two years later we both happened to get our first jobs out of college in Jacksonville, Florida. Our friend suggested we meet up since we were both new to the city, so we met one night at a bar with some work friends. We clicked immediately and found we had so much in common. We started hanging out all the time and two years later moved to New York together.

A friend of mine had a surprise photographer capture his proposal years ago and when I saw those photos I knew I wanted the same thing - to capture that moment. What I had been imagining was somewhere in NYC with a great view to make the photos even better. I chose Pier 17 because of the view of the Brooklyn Bridge and because it was in downtown NYC where we had made our life together. I took Kelsey there before dinner and told her we were getting drinks. I asked her to turn and face the Brooklyn Bridge so I could get a photo of her looking out at the river. When she turned around I was down on one knee with the ring, and I asked her to marry me.
