One of our favorite grab and go breakfasts. Sometimes Gavin is extra sneaky and surprises Meredith with a bagel breakfast sandwich after an overnight shift in the ED.
Homemade breakfast tacos, burritos, and dirty horchata. Basalt is great the morning before a big day - but even better the morning after a big night out. Mere and Gavin give it 5/5 stars.
Wine and amaro bar known for its laid back atmosphere and off-beat selections. If whiskey is more your style, try neighboring Buffalo Traders Lounge (or one from each).
Open for lunch and dinner, this neighborhood spot is great for the whole family. Large menu with sandwiches, pizza, filling salads, and a full bar. Guaranteed to satisfy even the most particular palates.
Miles of paved non motorized, mostly flat paths make this a favorite destination for walkers, joggers, and bikers.
One of our favorite date night spots. A small, tucked away bistro serving local, seasonal, and constantly changing menus. An extensive wine menu highlights Michigan producers.
As stated on their website: "Local. Organic. Homemade." What could be better? Serving breakfast and lunch with a number of vegetarian and vegan menu options.
Meredith's favorite bookstore. Browse their selection and then wander the block - nearby Furniture City Creamery (ice cream), Leon and Sons (wine shop), Brewery Vivant (beer), and Commune (home goods) are all fun stops.
Mostly paved trails through the woods and ravines near the Grand River make for pleasant strolling. Also happens to be one of Marge's favorite dog parks
Cocktails and just cocktails (although they do serve a mean mocktail if you're looking for a break from booze). Impeccably good.
Casual. Food is consistently good, rarely great, always satisfying. 4 out of 5 stars in the best possible way.
Another micro bistro serving hyper local, seasonal and micro-but-mighty menus. The wine list will charm any oenophile. Make a reservation the good old fashioned way by calling and you won't be disappointed.
An indoor market with a variety of food stands and shops selling everything from fresh fish and gourmet cheese to boba tea, poke bowls, and barbecue. Mere's favorite is Gabby's Gourmandise, the first shop you'll see if you come in from the main entrance - grab a slice of quiche (it will convert even non-quiche people) or a pistachio cream puff.
Several miles of walking trails through a variety of woods and wetlands. Beautiful on a fall day.
Recently re-opened, this restaurant combines New Nordic-influenced cuisine with seasonal, locally sourced produce for a gem of a dining experience.
