Ashley and Colin met serendipitously on a dating app (#thankyoubumble), but the odds are pretty good that they had crossed each other's paths before without even realizing it. The distance between Ashley’s childhood home in Lake City, and Colin’s first house (that would eventually become the home he would share with Ashley) were just a short 2.4 mile drive apart when the two first met. The twists and turns of life had somehow brought these two together after following very different life paths. Ashley grew up in Seattle and having spent her college years at University of Portland, was fully rooted in the Pacific Northwest. Colin had taken a bit more of a roundabout tour, having grown up in Twin Falls, Idaho, attending college at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and then living in Washington, D.C. for two years before relocating to Seattle. Ashley and Colin's relationship quickly flourished after their first date at Hot Cakes in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood. From weekend mornings at the Magnuson dog park with Ashley's red lab, Stella, to traveling around the country together, these two have always thrived on having fun adventures together, no matter how big or small. The blessing of living so close to each other changed very significantly however after about a year of dating when Ashley left Seattle to complete a Masters program at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. Yet even the thousands of miles between them could not get in the way of their love for each other. So, on November 24, 2019, when Ashley had just returned to Seattle for Thanksgiving break, Colin got down on one knee, asked Ashley to marry him, and, of course, she responded with a resounding "Yes!" Now that the global pandemic has finally started to retreat, and all of their dearest family and friends can be welcomed safely to the wedding celebration, Ashley and Colin are very excited to be married together in Seattle, the city they call home, where they fell in love, and where their story all began.
