It all started when Abby turned her application in at Commercial Tire. All the guys at Commercial would walk around saying “I sure wish I knew how to drive a skidder.”. Garrett was curious who this chick was, so he looked her up on facebook. So you could say before he knew her, he knew he kinda thought she was cute. Abby was for sure in a wild stage of her life when she moved to Baker. When Abby began working at Commercial Tire her and Garrett quickly became friends. Abby was currently in a relationship when she moved to Baker but that didn’t last long (definitely for the better). Abby made the 1st move towards pursuing a relationship with Garrett. It didn’t take them long to become a couple. Garrett started out by going home after work and showering and then he would go out to Abby’s camp trailer. When he finally started staying at the camp trailer he told his parents that he was staying at Brad's house. Brad was covering for him for a while, at this time Abby had no clue that Asa and Denise did not know that he was staying with her. The funny thing is the trailer was parked right next to the train tracks. Asa found out 1st when he Drove by on the train as Garrett was headed to work.

As we all know Abby has a huge family, Abby Introduced Garrett to her family 1st. When he met Abby's family Mindy had a whole BBQ planned. (Abby thinks she was seeing if she could scare him off) She invited Daren and Danielle Kimball and their kids over along with her brother Sawyer and his wife Sharon with all 5 of their kids. Garrett was not used to this much chaos. Luckily she wasn’t able to scare him off, he was just the right one. Mindy kept saying Danielle was like another daughter. Garrett knew he was related to the Kimballs so you could only imagine what was going through his head, oh great she didn't tell me that she was related to the kimballs. As they left Abby’s parents Garrett asked Abby “Danielle is she really your sister?” that's when Abby informed him she is LIKE a sister. Cleared that right up after Garrett was relieved. The 1st time Abby met Garrett's parents it had been one year since Garrett returned home from the Marine Corps. It was very special for them. Abby felt really happy to be there for that. Abby is not a crier normally well that night Garrett's Dad, Asa made Abby ball her eyes out, They played Karaoke well Garrett and his Mom, Denise did most of the singing. Except for the one song Thunderstruck by ACDC Abby knew that song by heart Garrett started out singing it with Asa he couldn't finish it so Abby stepped in and finished singing it word for word with him.

We found out we were going to welcome a little one into our family in September of 2020! There were so many emotions we felt. We knew it would be hard on our relationship so we were definitely scared and nervous. How could we not be excited? We were filled with joy and excitement when we found out. Abby kept telling Garrett she didn't want to tell anyone until she was further along. No way she could wait that long. They started telling close family and friends that afternoon. 9 long months later of a healthy pregnancy Abby went over due by 6 days. They induced Abby on May 15th and Abby couldn't have had a better person by her side. Garrett supported Abby and never left her side for the 15hrs she was in Labor when they welcomed their little boy River James Shreve to the world. R.J. hasn't been anything but a blessing.

With this story if it dont show you how much Garrett loves Abby and how stubborn she is I don't know what will. October 1st 2020 was the day the big question was asked. Keep in mind Abby’s birthday is October 16th. On the 1st Abby was at work and it was Garretts day off. Garrett usually did a little bit of everything on his day off. So when he drove by commercial tire and Abby asked him what he was doing and he said he went to D&B she thought nothing of it. Later that evening Garrett and Abby were laying in bed when Garrett decided he couldn't wait till Abby's birthday like he planned. He went to his pickup late that evening after they were already laying in bed. He kept trying to get Abby out of bed. He tried for probably a good hour. Garrett finally caved. He brought the ring into the bedroom of there 1st home they shared and asked the question and of course Abby said “YES!” And “why didn't you make me get up?”.
