We've known each other for some ten plus years now. Garet first caught Kendyl's eye sometime in middle school. Talk about a major crush. In typical male fashion, the feeling was reciprocated a bit (about 10 years) later. We wouldn't have it any other way though, as we have both grown tremendously. From the moment we rekindled our connection, we've been inseparable. It feels like divine intervention. Our relationship has blossomed through the help of God's mercy and grace. We would not be where we are without Him in our lives.
Garet popped the question at the most beautiful place imaginable – Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. Covering 83,000 square feet (7,700 m2), it is the largest mosaic collection in the world outside Russia. The cathedral is named for Saint Louis and was designated a basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1997. Even if you aren't of the Catholic faith, we definitely recommend checking it out. Knowing Kendyl would love to get married here, but logistically it didn't make sense with most family around Springfield, Garet chose this amazing spot to propose instead. Kendyl was a little suspicious when her parents decided to join the 3+ hour journey, but was still surprised nonetheless. After Mass, Garet pulled Kendyl aside to pray together in front of the altar. When Kendyl got up, Garet stayed down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Clearly, she said yes! The Basilica looks like something straight out of Rome (where Kendyl went on study abroad). We couldn't think of a more perfect and special place to start our marriage story!
