On June 9th of 2020, Gaby was asked to run some extra cups to the only other Caribou Coffee location that was open in Atlanta after the pandemic had hit and lockdown had begun. She had recently been told by one of Caribou's regular customers that there was a very good-looking, nice, young man who worked at that location whose name was Cole, which for some reason was still fresh in her mind a week or more later. When Gaby got into her car and started the drive over (which should have taken 10 minutes but with Atlanta traffic took 20), she began to hope that she would run into this nice, handsome man named Cole during her little errand. As luck would have it, she did. Gaby made it a point to look at the name tags of the employees that were working when she walked into the store with arms full of cups, and she started to get nervous as soon as she saw "Cole" written in not very impressive handwriting. Instead of dropping off the cups and leaving, Gaby put them on the shelf and introduced herself to Cole and the other barista that was working. She made some small talk and then let Cole and the other barista continue their previous conversation. Gaby must have hovered in silence for a bit too long (she was honestly staring at Cole the whole time), because he eventually said: "Are you just going to keep awkwardly standing there, or are you going to actually talk to us?" These were some of Cole's first words to Gaby, no lie. By June 22nd of 2020, Gaby and Cole were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Fast forward two and a half years later, Gaby and Cole get engaged during a moonlit walk on the beach in Waikiki, Hawaii. During those two and a half years, Gaby was promoted twice at Caribou, Cole dreamed of the day he would finally leave Caribou, Gaby started and completed a Master's degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Cole finally left Caribou to pursue his passion of history and curation by taking a position as a library associate, Gaby eventually left Caribou and started her career as a therapist, Cole decided to start working on a second Master's degree just to one-up Gaby, and a little gremlin named Gizmo joined the picture. Through all these big life changes and transitions, one thing stayed constant: Gaby and Cole's love for coffee (and each other, obviously). From the start, Cole has been the logic to Gaby's emotion, the spontaneity to her inhibition, the calm to her nervousness, the beer to her wine, and the light roast to her dark roast (just kidding, both like light roast). In essence, Cole and Gaby are the perfect blend. Four years after the day of officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, Cole and Gaby are changing their relationship status to husband and wife and could not think of a better way to spend their four year anniversary than celebrating with the people that have helped brew them into who they are today (had to throw one last coffee pun in there!)
