Joey and I first met in 2011 when I was in medical school in Las Vegas. He was stationed with the Marines at 29 Palms in the same platoon as my roommate Anna's husband Justin was. He came up to Las Vegas a few times and we had a great dance session and some smiles, but we went our separate ways. We spent the next 9 years growing up, having kids, and maturing. In January of 2020, Joey slid into my Facebook messages with a "Hey buddy". We chatted back and forth for a bit, but I wasn't ready. Then my other medical school mate got married (Jessica) in February of 2020 in Cancun, Justin used this time to convince me that Joey was single and a catch. Joey tried again in February with a "hey Buddy" direct message which lead to a 2 hour phone call which led to an 8 hour virtual date due to the pandemic. 2.5 years later, lots of life, career and health changes and our relationship has continued to grow and become stronger each day.
