Despite growing up 9 minutes from one another and going to the same high school, Mitchell and Gabby didn't officially meet until December 15th, 2019. Gabby was living in Pittsburgh and a friend of hers had asked if he and his cousins could stay at her house for the Steelers vs. Bills game in Pittsburgh. Naturally she said yes, and thank god she did because Mitchell happened to be one of the cousins. They all went to the game and tailgated together and the Bills ended up winning. After Mitchell had gone back to Buffalo Gabby couldn't stop thinking about him, so she messaged him on Instagram. For some reason she knew in that moment, that this would be the beginning of their forever.

It was New Years Eve and Gabby was out with her friends at Buffalo Riverworks. Mitchell was texting her from a house party that he was at and asked her to meet him at the Griffon Gastropub at 10 pm. She convinced one of her friends to forget about the money spent on their tickets for Riverworks, and to take an Uber 30 minutes with her to go and see Mitchell. Before we knew it, the countdown to the new year began and Mitchell and Gabby were each other's New Years kiss for 2020.

Gabby and Mitchell went for dinner at Tappo and were sat at the same table that they were at on their first date. They enjoyed their favorite eggplant parmesan and Gabby was convinced that Mitchell was going to pop the question. However, dinner came to a close and they headed to a bar called 500 Pearl. There they were met by Mitchell's cousin Jack and his girlfriend Calista, whom was Gabby's childhood friend. They shared drinks and laughs amidst the Buffalo skyline, but it was getting late and Gabby wanted to head home. It was then that Calista took Gabby to the bathroom and when they came back, a girl stopped Gabby and began chatting with her. Gabby had no idea who this girl was and just wanted to get back to Mitchell and head home. The girl eventually told Gabby to "turn around" and Mitchell was on one knee and asked Gabby to marry him and she said YES.
