Gabriel truly pulled off such a beautiful proposal. 2022 was a big year for us thankfully we were traveling a lot. Earlier that year he had asked me what were some top places I had wanted to always go and see. I said New York and Hawaii were always on the top of my list! He made it his personal mission to make sure we visited both those places that year. I honestly thought he would have proposed in New York. He tried to throw me off by saying he wouldn’t during a vacation. Since the moment we arrived to Oahu he had been nervous however I knew he had a lot of stress with work right before the holidays. So because of this I didn’t think much. During the trip we kept being asked if we were celebrating anything I laugh about it now because he would always laugh and try to change the topic without answering the question. We had 9 beautiful days all over Honolulu. Sight seeing enjoying the warm water of Oahu. Delicious fresh seafood. Sushi being our favorite! On the last day he took me to a Beautiful restaurant and as we were eating he had asked me “ what was your favorite part of the trip so far”. I talked about the warm water beautiful turtles and the delicious food! Then I asked him what his favorite part of the trip was, which he responded “ it hasn’t happened yet. I was a little suspicious but didn’t think much of it ha ha. After dinner Gabriel asked me if I wanted to go walk on the beach the sun was going to set soon so he figured it would just be a great way to end our trip. I agreed however he had a specific place in mind wai’alae beach park. As we arrived and started walking towards the beach. We were approaching a beautiful canopy with a lovely layout, featuring a delicious charcuterie board with local pineapple juice which Honolulu is know for. I was absolutely taken back still not aware of what was happening just thought it was a surprise picnic. We sat down and enjoyed our beautiful spread as we listened to a curated playlist filled with our favorite songs that Gabriel made while watching the sunset. Once the sun started to set, Gabriel told me it would be a good idea to turn on the tiki torches on that surrounded each corner of the canopy. While lighting each torch Gabriel began to tell me the most beautiful words of affection, describing our love, and how a lot of planning time, effort and dedication went into that very moment. Once we got to the last torch, he held my hand, walking back to pillows, where he continued to give me the most beautiful impromptu speech. At that moment, I started crying because I realized what was happening then he got on one knee and asked me. “Will you marry me” truly the easiest yes I could ever give. As we approach our wedding day, we both feel so grateful not only because we’re going to be able to celebrate with our closest family friends, and loved ones. I especially feel grateful, knowing that my father gave his blessing to Gabriel before he passed. He would call Gabriel his Nuero always and I know although he won’t be there physically he will be there in spirit.
