Things To Do

Looking for something to see, buy, or eat in the city that never sleeps?* Here are some of our favorite NYC spots that are mostly a hop, skip, or subway swipe away from the Hudson Hotel. (*Full disclosure: Gabi is usually asleep on the couch by 10:30pm.)

P.J. Clarke's for Burgers

44 West 63rd Street, New York, NY 10023

Great burgers, raw bar, and other assorted food stuffs. Bonus: Great view of Lincoln Center. 6 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

The Meatball Shop for Balls

200 9th Avenue, New York, NY 10011

Do you like your meat in ball form? Then this shop's for you. Go for the balls, stay for the homemade ice cream sandwiches. 6 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

Rosa Mexicano for Mexicano

61 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10023

Got a hankering for some tableside guac? You've come to the right place. Also delicious with guac: margaritas. Still the right place. 5 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

Sushi Yasaka for Sushi

251 West 72nd Street, New York, NY 10023

Delicious sushi at some of NYC's most affordable prices. Tiny place so you MUST have a reservation (they are on OpenTable). 18 min walk / 12 min subway ride from Hudson Hotel.

Jing Fong Restaurant for Dim Sum Brunch

20 Elizabeth Street, New York, NY 10013

If you feel like venturing all the way to Chinatown on a weekend, we *highly* recommend Jin Fong for authentic dim sum (get there before 12pm). Wait in line, take an escalator to the 1000 person dining hall, and just point at stuff that looks good on the cart. You can't go wrong. 25 min subway ride / 30 min cab from Hudson Hotel.

Waverly Inn for Brunch (non-Dum Sum variety)

16 Bank Street, New York, NY 10014

Cozy spot in the West Village with a sweet indoor/outdoor patio in the back. Many mimosas have been consumed here. 20 min subway ride from Hudson Hotel.

Pizza... Because Pizza.

New York, NY

A bad slice of pizza does not exist in NY, so just follow your nose. If you want to get adventurous, here's a curated list by the Infatuation. https://www.theinfatuation.com/new-york/guides/best-pizza-nyc

Bagels... Because Bagels.

New York, NY

Same as pizza, really can't go wrong here. We are partial to Barney Greengrass for a sitdown meal (+fish) and Murray's or Essa for grab&go. A curated and highly debatable list from TimeOut NY here: https://www.timeout.com/newyork/restaurants/15-best-bagels-in-new-york-ranked

The Smith for Everything

1150 Broadway, New York, NY 10001

Recommended if your party can't agree on a single cuisine, this menu has literally everything. Bonus: Also a great view of Lincoln Center. 7 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

Central Park for Parking (non-vehicular variety)

New York, NY

It's a giant park! In the middle of the city! Perfect for strolling, biking, or a morning jog around the reservoir (if that's your sort of thing). Central Park SW entrance is 5 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts

10 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023

One of the cultural capitals of the world! Check out the website for latest calendar of events. Plus the fountain. Oh, the fountain! 6 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

TKTS Times Square for Broadway Deals

7th Avenue, New York, NY 10036

Is it Saturday morning and you're hankering for a Saturday matinee? Get yourself to the TKTS booth in Times Square for last minute same-day discounts. Another option: the Today Tix app lets you buy in advance if you want to plan ahead! 15 min walk from the Hudson Hotel.

Comedy Cellar for Laughing

117 Macdougal Street, New York, NY 10012

Among our favorite spots for getting our laugh on. Can sell out early so book reservations in advance! Two drink minimum, but no heckling and a very strict cell phone policy. Their Village Underground location around the corner is an excellent alternative. 20 min subway from Hudson Hotel.

The Shops at Columbus Circle for Shopping

10 Columbus Circle, New York, NY 10019

Forgot to pack something? Wish there was a mall nearby? Look no further than down the block from the Hudson Hotel to the Shops at Columbus Circle. You'll find spots like Sephora, J Crew, Papyrus, some fancy stuff, a Whole Foods, and more. 3 min walk from Hudson Hotel.

For all the days along the way
