Katie and Matt met in Fort Collins, Colorado and have been friends for over 10 years. They both attended Colorado State University where their lives grew in separate directions. Katie moved to Denver shortly after graduation and Matt pursued a career in Windsor. Four years later, Matt also moved to Denver and it wasn't long after that when Katie caught wind and reached out. She was certain their friendship was a special one and that he would be her forever. As it turns out, Matt had always known the same.

Matt planned a weekend jaunt to Seattle for him and Katie to visit good friends. He took the trip as an opportunity to surprise the "unsurprisable" Katie and pop the big question. Matt reached out to two of Katie's best childhood friends, knowing that they would help him knock it out of the park. The team put together the most epic rooftop proposal complete with all of Katie's favorite things; Mumford and Sons, flowers, and Veuve Clicquot. After a resounding YES, the group took a boat ride across Lake Union for an evening of celebration.
