Over the years there have been many first date stories, many cute, and many corny. Safe to say that we had different mindsets going into our first date. Elana was excited for her time in the city, bound by nothing, roaming with a New York native. Aaron knew that Elana loved museums, he had flagged down a taxi to take them up to the Upper East Side. Elana, in Elana fashion, was running late, and the taxi kept the meter running. Elana came down, they were both blushing and they were off! Before the taxi even made it to the end of the block the adventure had begun. The two were driving up central park west, crossing central park, and then stepping out in front of The Met. The grandeur of the building made the two of them stop in their tracks. As they walked up the steps into the building of the unknown, a new chapter in each of their lives had just begun, and they hadn’t even known. Aaron likes to say he knew from the second he first saw Elana, for Elana it took a little longer. The two wandered through a safari of Greek statues, then through a Disney exhibit showing sketches that the two had both grown up with, they then went through the Egyptian wing, and finally through several rooms of furniture all from the 18th century and earlier. Aaron loved looking at the detail, and understanding the past, while Elana felt she was in Ikea, pointing out pieces she would have loved to have in her future home. The two managed to spend the larger part of 4 hours in the halls of The Met, then on a rather warm and sunny January 30th, the two strolled down 5th Avenue. Elana was soaking up the city and sun, Aaron on the other hand panicked, the date was off to a great start, but the tummies were empty. The two wound up eating Mediterranean not too far off from The Plaza. They nearly immediately agreed on exactly what they’d order off the menu and were happy that they had both been raised to order for the table and share. A Greek salad, zucchini chips, and Branzino with artichoke held up the two as another cab was waved to bring the two to Rockefeller Center. A Cappuccino was dessert for Aaron and an Almond latte was for Elana. The two continued to talk before Elana insisted she had to go back to her hotel as she had an old friend meeting her for dinner in just over an hour. Reluctantly, Aaron and Elana made their way to Elana’s hotel and that was that. Aaron’s dream girl was again alone in New York. He wanted nothing more than to talk her into a second date. Was texting her an hour after too soon? Aaron waited until he knew Elana had to be done with dinner with her friend, Elana still thinks he waited too long. Aaron was quick to ask Elana out for date number two the following night, and Elana was quicker to say yes. And so the next night sushi was to be had amongst laughs and stories. Surely Montreal and New York were too far for a third date to happen, who would travel between two cities, nonetheless two countries for what many would have called a fling? But the two were determined. Aaron flew to Elana and the rest is history. The two walked through airports, a border (literally), snow, rain, and more snow. Their paths lead to yet another walk, on August 1st in Montreal, and this walk we want to share with you…
