Kindergarten 1981. Ed tells this story of how he kissed a girl on the tractor tire at recess. I was there so I've convinced my boy-crazy-five-year-old self that it was me and that God knew what he was doing all along. The truth is we grew up in the same halls as strangers and after graduation didn't look back. Reacquainted in 2017. After weeks of texts and calls, it became obvious we share a passion for live music. Ed invited me to a concert, as friends. Of course I thought 'what better way to make a first impression after more than twenty years of not seeing one another than a 5 hour road trip to see Cody Jinks' - LOL. ED: Some first impressions create an everlasting friendship, like it was just supposed to happen; this case was no different. My first feeling was this warm and comfortable emotion with a huge amount of desire buried beneath. Attractively posed and greeting me with a smile, Jill welcomed with a hug. From the start there was trust, endless conversation and so much compatibility that I knew we were off to become, at the least, really great friends. JILL: When Ed arrived he almost jumped out of the truck to say 'hi' before he put it in park. I couldn’t help but be attracted to his big, charismatic smile. Approaching me with his arms out wide I could feel his energy pull me in. Something in the small space between us in that hug felt like home. The 5 hours flew by as we talked and laughed without catching our breath. So easily compatible, he felt safe. I knew that Ed Wonnacott was going to be a fixture in my heart forever even if just as a friend. More trips followed. The Vermont countryside; a birthday in Chicago; KC for football; NYE in LA; & the Rose Bowl. For my 42nd birthday Ed surprised me with Portugal. I'd dreamed about the Livraria Lello since 8th grade. Portugal was magical but not all Ed had planned. He proposed and I said YES at the Pestana Palacio overlooking the Douro in Porto. He loves me BIG. Next stop Brooklyn then off to Paris!
